Buffy 101

hey guys, nan here. it's amazing being back home, mainly because i left my Buffy Boxset here. Anyway, while in Boston i made the discovery that several colleges, including Emerson, have classes about BtVS! how incredible is that??? i was just curious if any of you guys know anything about this, including what they teach, and so on. all i know is that this discovery has definately helped me to narrow down my list of colleges to look at!

Well, Im not too sure about Buffy classes, but I know that WVU (West Virginia University), they have a class on Vampire Mythology, and they definitely cover BtVS during it. I think they devote like, a whole nine weeks to it. Cant wait to take that.

Nan and Ellie, you prolly already know this, but one of the Senior Project classes is on Vampires/Dracula. I know Buffy is at least mentioned, especially since Dracula makes an appearance in Season 5.

w00t for vampire classes! I know I'm definitely taking that for my Senior Project.

The Slayage Conference on BtVS has seen two immensely successful rounds, one at Gordon College in Georgia (May 2006), and one in Nashville at Middle State Tennessee U (in 2004). Over 200 scholarly papers, both undergraduate and graduate level, were presented on all sorts of topics.

I studied abroad my junior year of college in England and took a couple of courses in the U of Reading English department that included BtVS in the curriculum. Most of the professors used the show to examine genre.

Btw, I love the name of your podcast. The Troika is great, but Andrew's a particular favorite of mine. I'm going to link to it on my LiveJournal if you don't mind (if you do, just comment and tell me to take it off, which I will do quickly).

just out of curiosity, do you read Squee, or do you just use it as a way of showing excitement?
